CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox avoided arbitration with two players Thursday, agreeing to one-year deals with left-handed reliever Dan Jennings and infielder Brett Lawrie.

Lawrie, who was acquired from the Oakland Athletics in a December trade, will receive $4.125 million for the 2016 season. The 25-year old had a .260 batting average and a .407 slugging percentage while hitting 16 home runs with 29 doubles for the A’s in 2015.

Jennings, who was acquired from the Miami Marlins last offseason, will make $810,000 in 2016. He delivered a 3.99 ERA over 56⅓ innings in his first season with the White Sox, striking out 46 batters in 53 appearances.

The White Sox have two arbitration-eligible players remaining: right-handed reliever Zach Putnam and outfielder Avisail Garcia. The club avoided arbitration with reliever Nate Jones last month when the right-hander was signed to a three-year, $8 million contract, and with pitcher Jacob Turner, who agreed to a one-year, $1.5 million deal.
