Caldwell-Pope leads Lakers to comeback win over the Bulls Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 11 points in the final four minutes of the fourth quarter leading the Lakers to a 103-94 comeback win over the Bulls on Tuesday. Caldwell-Pope had scored only 22 points in 89 minutes of action in the fourth quarter this season, an average of one point for every four minutes he was on the court, prior to Tuesday’s game. The Lakers overcame a 19-point third-quarter deficit to win the contest. That marked the first time in over four years Los Angeles came back from that large a deficit in the second half to win, since beating New Orleans after trailing by 21 points in the third quarter on March 6, 2013. The Lakers had lost 125 straight games when trailing by at least 19 points after halftime prior to Tuesday. Three straight games with a goal for Boeser Brock Boeser extended his goal streak to three games when he scored the first of his two goals for the Canucks in their 5–2 win over the Flyers in Philadelphia. Boeser is the first rookie to score a goal for the Canucks in each of three consecutive team games in one season since Jason King had a four-game streak in November 2003. Boeser has also matched the longest goal-scoring streak by a rookie in the NHL this season. The other freshman with three-game goal streaks are Sonny Milano, Mikhail Sergachev, Adrian Kempe, Yanni Gourde, Martin Frk, Alexander Kerfoot and Alex DeBrincat. Schenn stays hot with four points Brayden Schenn tallied two goals and two assists in the Blues’ 8–3 win against the Oilers. Schenn did not register a point in his first game this month but he’s racked up 19 points (seven goals, 12 assists) in eight games since then. That’s the most points any NHL player has produced over an eight-game span within one season since Sidney Crosby recorded 20 points over an eight-game stretch in February/March 2013. Over the last 26 seasons, the only other time a Blues player produced as many as 19 points over eight games was when the late Pavol Demitra did so in December 2000. Spezza nets the game winner in Stars’ victory over the Canadiens Jason Spezza’s goal in the final minute of the second period snapped a 1–1 tie and stood up as the winning goal in the Stars’ 3–1 victory over the Canadiens. Spezza has produced 32 goals, 37 assists and 69 points in the 61 regular-season games he’s played against the Canadiens in his NHL career. He ranks second to Jaromir Jagr (43–50–93 in 87 games) among active players in goals, assists and points versus Montreal. Spezza did the bulk of his scoring against the Canadiens during the 11 seasons he played with the Ottawa Senators (29–33–62 in 54 games).
