Westbrook’s three-game totals unmatched since Chamberlain

Russell Westbrook recorded his third consecutive triple-double on Sunday night, a span during which he has totaled 96 points, 43 rebounds and 40 assists. Westbrook is the first NBA player since Wilt Chamberlain in March 1968 to reach those three statistical totals over a three–game span. Chamberlain ended the 1967-68 season with an NBA record nine consecutive triple-doubles and over the final three games of that streak he produced 101 points, 76 rebounds and 45 assists.

Brown connects for late game-winner

Jaylen Brown’s three-point field goal with 37 seconds remaining put the Celtics ahead, 98–96, and Boston never relinquished that lead in its 104–98 victory over the Pistons. No other NBA rookie has made a game-winning field goal with so little time remaining in a game this season.

Conley is road warrior

Mike Conley scored a game-high 31 points in the Grizzlies’ win at Denver. It was Conley’s fifth 30-point game on the road this season after he had only one (at Philadelphia in an overtime game in December 2014) in his previous nine seasons in the NBA. Conley has the same number of 30-point games as a visitor this season as does Stephen Curry.

Gobert dominates on defense

Rudy Gobert dominated the paint to the tune of 16 defensive rebounds and four blocked shots in Utah’s victory at Washington. Gobert is the first Jazz player to reach both of those statistical totals or higher in one game since Karl Malone corralled 16 defensive boards and rejected four field-goal attempts against the Pacers in December 1990.

DeRozan almost perfect from the line

DeMar DeRozan scored 33 points, highlighted by a 15-for-16 performance at the line, in the Raptors’ victory over the Trail Blazers. It was a league-high fourth time this season that DeRozan made at least 15 free throws––with no more than one miss––in a game this season.

Leonard lifts Spurs in LA

Kawhi Leonard’s 25 points helped lift the Spurs to a road win against the Lakers, after Leonard scored 27 points versus the Clippers in Los Angeles in December. The only other Spurs player in the last 14 seasons to have a 25-point game against both the Clippers and Lakers at Staples Center in the same season was Tony Parker in 2011-12.

Sharp-shooting duo

Giannis Antetokounmpo (11-for-13, .846) and Michael Beasley (8-for-10, .800) became the second pair of NBA teammates to each convert at least 80 percent of their field-goal attempts (minimum: 10 FGA) in a game this season in the Bucks’ victory against Phoenix on Sunday. The only other tandem to do so was Kevin Durant and Ian Clark against Portland in December. The only duo to do that for any NBA team last season was Antetokounmpo and Jabari Parker in a win against Philadelphia.

Forsberg on scoring binge

Filip Forsberg extended his scoring binge to eight goals in four games with a goal for the Predators in their 5–4 win over the Oilers. Forsberg is the first player in Predators history to score eight goals over a four-game span and he’s the first player on any NHL team to do so since January 2013, when Patrick Marleau scored exactly two goals for the Sharks in each of their first four games in that lockout-delayed season.

Two goals and an assist for Gaudreau

Johnny Gaudreau had a hand in all three goals the Flames scored in their win at Carolina on Sunday. Gaudreau assisted on Micheal Ferland’s goal which tied the score at 1–1 early in the second period, and then scored the go-ahead and insurance tallies which earned Calgary a 3–1 victory. It was his third multiple-goal game this season and the 15th multi-goal game for Gaudreau in his three full seasons in the NHL. The New Jersey native is tied with Max Pacioretty and Joe Pavelski for the most multiple-goal games over the last three seasons by a U.S.-born player.

Blue Jackets win with familiar script

Alexander Wennberg and Cam Atkinson each scored two goals for the Blue Jackets in their 5–2 win over the Rangers on Sunday, after Josh Anderson and Nick Foligno did the same when Columbus routed the Islanders, 7–0, on Saturday. This is the first time in the Blue Jackets’ 16 seasons in the NHL that they’ve had a pair of multiple-goal scorers in each of two consecutive games. Columbus is the first NHL team to have two multi-goal men in each of two consecutive games since the Maple Leafs did so in wins against the Kings and Avalanche in December 2015.

Toews and Kane finish strong month

Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane each tallied one goal and one assist as the Blackhawks closed out their February schedule with a 4–2 win against the Blues. Toews leads the NHL with 18 points this month (7 goals, 11 assists in 10 games) and Kane ranks second with 16 points in February (9 goals, 7 assists in 10 games). Toews and Kane have been Blackhawks teammates since they entered the NHL together in October 2007 and this is the fourth time they each racked up at least 16 points in the same calendar month. They also did that in December 2009, February 2011 and March 2013.

Karlsson’s fourth season with 30 road points

Erik Karlsson, who assisted on both of the Senators’ goals in their 2–1 victory over the Panthers in Florida, has recorded 30 points in 28 road games this season. This is the fourth time that Karlsson has racked up at least 30 road points in one season in his seven-year NHL career, having also done so in 2011–12 (38 points), 2013–14 (39) and 2015–16 (35). He’s the first NHL defenseman to produce 30 or more road points in four different seasons since Nicklas Lidstrom retired in 2012 with five such seasons to his credit.

Bruins trio with three points apiece

Patrice Bergeron (two goals, one assist), Brad Marchand (one goal, two assists) and Torey Krug (three assists) each tallied three points for the Bruins in their 6–3 win at Dallas on Sunday. Marchand (20 points) and Bergeron (13) were the top two points producers for the Bruins in January, and with 13 points each in February they’re tied (along with David Pastrnak) for the team high this month. Bergeron and Marchand are the first Bruins players to record at least 13 points in each of two consecutive calendar months since 2011, when David Krejci and Milan Lucic both did so in February and March.
