Colts release depth chart

ANDERSON, Ind. -- The Indianapolis Colts released their first depth chart since the start of training camp as part of their packet for Thursday's preseason game against the New York Jets.

Colts coach Chuck Pagano downplayed the depth chart by saying, "one spot is in ink, the rest are in pencil right now," meaning everybody's position is up in the air with the exception of quarterback Andrew Luck.

A couple of things about the depth chart.

Rookie Donte Moncrief is listed as the team's fourth receiver ahead of Griff Whalen and Da'Rick Rogers.

Rookie Jack Mewhort, to no surprise, is the starting left guard.

Dwayne Allen, who missed all but one game last season, is listed as the starting tight end even though the Colts could end up starting two tight ends instead of starting a fullback.

Delano Howell is starting ahead of veteran of Mike Adams at safety.
