Jaguars rookie Cam Robinson gets first-team reps at left tackle

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Recapping the second day of Jacksonville Jaguars training camp:

Another good day for Blake Bortles: Coach Doug Marrone said after Thursday's practice that he wanted to see more consistency out of Bortles. It has only been two practices, but Bortles has responded. He hasn't thrown an interception in the two days -- in one-on-one or team drills -- and his decision-making has been good, too. He hasn't thrown a "What-was-he-thinking-there?" pass, either.

Cam Robinson gets first-team reps: Marrone said before camp began that Robinson was going to compete with Branden Albert to be the starting left tackle and Robinson got the majority of first-team reps on Friday. The Jaguars did a lot of rotating along the offensive line, with Josh Wells subbing for Jermey Parnell at right tackle as well. Marrone said he should have a good feel for the starting five by the end of next week's five consecutive padded practices.

Play of the day: Undrafted rookie receiver Keelan Cole made three impressive catches on Friday, including one on the sideline while he was being mugged by cornerback Jalen Myrick. Cole made the catch over his shoulder with his right hand while Myrick had his left arm pinned. That was the first of two impressive catches he made on throws from backup quarterback Chad Henne.

Injury report: Other than the PUP players (cornerbacks Jalen Ramsey and Aaron Colvin and fullback Marquez Williams), every other player participated. Tight end Neal Sterling suffered an undisclosed injury late in the practice but it did not require him to leave the practice field. Robinson did get treatment in the cool zone later in the practice for heat issues.

Etc...: Like all rookie running backs, Leonard Fournette needs to be better in pass protection. He missed a block on linebacker Telvin Smith, who blitzed through the center/guard gap, and the play would have resulted in a sack. ... Linebacker Myles Jack struggled in one-on-one coverage with the backs. He had a particularly hard time staying with I'Tavius Mathers, but he rebounded with solid coverage on fullback Tommy Bohanon. ... Cornerback A.J. Bouye had a nice pass-breakup on Bortles' throw to receiver Marqise Lee. He broke up the same kind of throw on Thursday to receiver Allen Robinson. ... Smith stayed home and correctly read an end-around to receiver Arrelious Benn during 11-on-11 late in the practice. The big loss earned a high five from defensive coordinator Todd Wash.

Saturday's schedule: The Jaguars will practice from 6:30-9 pm ET and it is open to season-ticket holders only.
