KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Spending on offensive linemen is up for the Kansas City Chiefs from 2015 and they are no longer near the bottom of the league in spending in that area.

Here's a closer look at how the Chiefs are spending their salary cap dollars on O-linemen.

Salary cap commitments: $18,167,390 (up from $15,909,151 last year). Eric Fisher $7,060,613, Mitchell Schwartz $2,400,000, Paul Fanaika $2,133,333, Jah Reid 1,768,750, Mitch Morse $1,062,064, Zach Fulton $634,055, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif $633,575, Jarrod Pughsley $525,000, Reid Fragel $525,000, Daniel Munyer $525,000, Michael Liedtke $450,000, Laurence Gibson $450,000.

Percent of Chiefs' total salary cap spent on offensive linemen: 12.8 (up from 11.1 percent last year).

NFL average salary cap spending on offensive linemen: $24,563,731.

Chiefs' rank in offensive line spending: 25th among 32 teams (up from 30th last year).

Analysis: Fisher counts for more than a third of the Chiefs' spending in this position group. Otherwise, the Chiefs aren't spending much for their linemen. Schwartz, signed as a free agent to be their starting right tackle, is in the first year of his contract and his salary cap number will increase as the deal ages. Fisher is still on the contract he signed as a rookie in 2013 and his cap number is relatively high because he was the first overall pick in that draft. Three other projected starters in Morse, Fulton and Duvernay-Tardif are also still working on their rookie contracts. The Chiefs are also counting $5.2 million against their cap for an offensive lineman they recently released, Ben Grubbs.
