Cordarrelle Patterson active for Vikings; Marcus Sherels won't play

CHICAGO -- After Cordarrelle Patterson cleared the NFL's concussion protocol, the Minnesota Vikings will have their kick returner on the field on Monday night, at the site of his first NFL touchdown. They will not, however, have punt returner Marcus Sherels.

Sherels is inactive for the Vikings' game against the Chicago Bears because of a wrist injury. Minnesota will likely turn to wide receiver Adam Thielen to return punts. Sherels, who did not participate in practice all week, had fumbled a punt against the Philadelphia Eagles last week, and special teams coordinator Mike Priefer said the injury contributed to the turnover.

With wide receiver Jarius Wright also inactive, Laquon Treadwell will be on the Vikings' 46-man roster in his hometown, though it remains to be seen if he'll play a significant role in the offense. Jayron Kearse will start at safety on Monday night with Andrew Sendejo inactive, though the Vikings could have the rookie on a short leash, opting to play Anthony Harris if Kearse makes too many mistakes in coverage.
