MLB Rumor Central: How Giants deal with injury to Hunter Pence

The San Francisco Giants will have a huge hole to fill in right field after Hunter Pence reinjured his right hamstring in Wednesday’s extra-innings loss in Atlanta.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy conceded Pence is likely headed to the disabled list for the fourth time in the last two seasons. Pence, who leads the Giants in home runs (seven), RBIs (36) and hits (54), was injured trying to beat out a ground ball in the fourth inning.

Jarrett Parker took over in right field and is likely to receive increased playing time in Pence’s absence, suggests Chris Haft of MLB.com.

As for a possible roster move, outfielder Mac Williamson was not in the lineup for Triple-A Sacramento at El Paso and could make it to Atlanta in a time for Thursday’s matinee against the Braves, reports Andrew Baggarly of the Mercury News.

It is unclear if and when the Giants will look outside the organization for another bat, but with Angel Pagan already on the disabled list, the starting outfield is down to Gregor Blanco, Denard Span and Parker.
