The San Francisco Giants could have shortstop Brandon Crawford back in the lineup against the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday, the first day he is eligible to be activated from the 10-day disabled list.

Rumor Central

A two-time Gold Glove winner, Crawford was hitting .263/.284/.434 when he went down with a groin injury. "He's as good as anybody in the game. You're talking about one of the elite shortstops in our game, if not the best," manager Bruce Bochy told reporters, including Chris Haft of MLB.com.

Eduardo Nunez and recent call-up Christian Arroyo have started at shortstop in Crawford’s absence. Arroyo, who is hitting .278 with a pair of homers in nine games, figures to play third base when Crawford returns, assuming he continues to swing a productive bat.

Nunez is an option at third base and in left field, where Brandon Belt has started five of the last six games.
