Suns training camp roster breakdown

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The Phoenix Suns open training camp with a 19-man roster. Out of this group, 14 players have full salary protection for the 2016-17 season, while the other five currently have non-guaranteed deals. Here is the breakdown:

Full Salary Protection: Leandro Barbosa, Dragan Bender, Eric Bledsoe, Devin Booker, Tyson Chandler, Marquese Chriss, Jared Dudley, Archie Goodwin, Brandon Knight, Alex Len, P.J. Tucker, Tyler Ulis, T.J. Warren, Alan Williams

Partial Salary Protection: None

No Salary Protection: Gracin Bakumanya, Derek Cooke Jr., Shaquille Harrison, John Jenkins and Derrick Jones Jr.

Roster Outlook: The 14 players with guaranteed salaries will likely be part of the 2016-17 regular season opening night roster and that should increase to 15, if the Suns don't release Jenkins on or before Oct. 23. If Jenkins is on the team after the deadline, his salary becomes fully guaranteed. Harrison, Jones Jr., Cooke Jr. and Bakumanya will likely be waived late in preseason, so the Suns have the option to designate them to their D-League team, the Northern Arizona Suns.

2016-17 Salary Cap Outlook: The Suns should enter the regular season about $13.2 million under the salary cap and $20.9 million below the luxury tax line, if they don't make a trade in the preseason.
