The Portland Trail Blazers open training camp with an 18-man roster. Out of this group, 14 players have full salary protection for the 2016-17 season, while one has some guaranteed money and the other three have non-guaranteed deals. Here is the breakdown:

Full Salary Protection: Al-Farouq Aminu, Pat Connaughton, Allen Crabbe, Ed Davis, Festus Ezeli, Maurice Harkless, Jake Layman, Meyers Leonard, Damian Lillard, C.J. McCollum, Shabazz Napier, Mason Plumlee, Evan Turner and Noah Vonleh

Partial Salary Protection: Tim Quarterman

No Salary Protection: Grant Jerrett, Luis Montero and Greg Stiemsma

Roster Outlook: With 14 roster spots likely already set for the regular season, it leaves the trio of newcomers -- Jerrett, Quarterman and Stiemsma -- to compete with Montero during training camp and the preseason for the 15th position.

2016-17 Salary Cap Outlook: The Blazers will enter training camp over the luxury tax line, but they can get under it by the start of the regular season by waiving Jerrett, Quarterman, Stiemsma and Montero. If that happens, Portland will have 14 players under contract and sit $18.2 million over the salary cap and $932,000 below the tax line.
