Raptors training camp roster breakdown

The Toronto Raptors open training camp with a full 20-man roster. Out of this group, 14 players have full salary protection for the 2016-17 season, while four have some guaranteed money and two have non-guaranteed deals. Here is the breakdown:

Full Salary Protection: Bruno Caboclo, DeMarre Carroll, DeMar DeRozan, Cory Joseph, Kyle Lowry, Lucas Nogueira, Patrick Patterson, Jakob Poeltl, Norman Powell, Terrence Ross, Pascal Siakam, Jared Sullinger, Jonas Valanciunas and Delon Wright

Partial Salary Protection: Brady Heslip, E.J. Singler, Jarrod Uthoff and Fred VanVleet

No Salary Protection: Drew Crawford and Yanick Moreira

Roster Outlook: The competition for the 15th roster position will likely come down to the players who have partially guaranteed salaries for the upcoming season. Heslip has $56,500 worth of protection, while the other three are guaranteed to make $50,000. The Raptors won't make their final roster cuts until late in the preseason, so three of the six players without full salary protection can be designated to their D-League team, Raptors 905. The player who earns the 15th spot on the Raptors' roster will probably spend a good amount of 2016-17 playing with the 905.

2016-17 Salary Cap Outlook: The Raptors, after they waive five players, will open the regular season about $12.53 million over the salary cap and $6.28 million below the luxury tax line.
