Rumor Central: Could C.J. Miles end up with Timberwolves?

The Minnesota Timberwolves need to add shooters to the roster and Indiana free-agent C.J Miles might be a target via a sign-and-trade. Brian Spurlock/USA TODAY Sports

Indiana Pacers forward/guard C.J. Miles is a free agent, and his representative is looking to find a good opportunity for his client. One team that might be an option is the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Rumor Central

According to Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN Twin Cities, there's talk the Pacers would be willing to send Miles to the Timberwolves via a sign-and-trade for Minnesota backup center Cole Aldrich and a 2018 first-round pick (from Oklahoma City).

The Timberwolves have used most of their cap room after agreeing to contracts with power forward Taj Gibson and point guard Jeff Teague, which leaves them with the $4.3 million "room exception" to sign another free agent. Miles can get more than that from the Wolves if they send out Aldrich, who is set to make $7.3 million for the 2017-18 season.

Minnesota needs to focus on shooters as they round out the roster, and Miles could be a target, as he made 41.3 percent of his shots from behind the 3-point line last season.

Wolfson also reports that Minnesota has made Nick Young an offer, which would probably be for the "room exception." By landing Miles via trade, the Wolves have the ability to get both free agents.
