BC lands speedy RB Alston

Five-foot-6, 165-pound prospect Sherman Alston (Montvale, N.J./St. Joseph) has committed to play in the ACC for Boston College, according to multiple reports.

"Boston College is a good academic school, and it's still close to home," he told NorthJersey.com. "I'm also thankful that they didn't hold my size against me."

Albany, Bryant, Delaware and New Hampshire were the other schools that offered the senior running back, who is expected to return kicks and punts for the Eagles.

While not possessing ideal BCS size, Alston has shined on the field and in a combine setting. He rushed for 896 yards and 12 touchdowns last season on just 103 carries (8.7 average). Prior to his junior campaign, Alson registered an electronically timed 4.45 40-yard dash and 32.1-inch vertical at a Nike event.

The Eagles now have 22 players on board for 2014. Their class is currently ranked 34th by ESPN RecruitingNation.
