Jerry Blevins may finally resume throwing next week

NEW YORK -- Left-handed reliever Jerry Blevins will have another chance to learn if his fractured left forearm has healed when he undergoes an X-ray next Thursday.

Blevins was struck with a line drive on April 19.

“We’re hopeful this next X-ray will indicate he’s able to throw,” general manager Sandy Alderson said.

Batters were 0-for-15 against Blevins, and lefty batters 0-for-14, before he suffered the early-season fracture. A free-agent-to-be at season's end, Blevins was acquired on the eve of the season from the Washington Nationals for Matt den Dekker.
