Boyd Binghamton lost its fourth straight. Matt Clark's two-run homer in the third -- his team-leading seventh long ball -- had staked Binghamton to a 3-0 lead. With two speedy runners aboard and one out in the bottom half, New Hampshire shortstop Andy Burns answered with a two-run double. The B-Mets chased New Hampshire starter Matt Boyd in the fourth. Wilfredo Tovar doubled and Matt Reynolds ended the lefty’s day with a single that placed runners at the corners. However, Richard Bleier entered and induced Kevin Plawecki to line into a double play to end the threat. New Hampshire grabbed the lead for the first time with a pair of runs in the fifth. Jon Berti had a run-scoring double to the right-field alley and advanced to third on the play. He came home with the go-ahead run on Burns' sac fly. Trailing by one, Binghamton re-tied the score in the sixth on Jayce Boyd's solo homer -- his first Double-A long ball. The tie did not last for long. Mike McDade greeted Hansel Robles with a leadoff double in the bottom half. Two batters later, Michael Crouse also doubled, plating McDade with the go-ahead run and ending Robles’ night. New Hampshire tacked on another run in the seventh against reliever Cody Satterwhite. Robles (1-1) allowed five runs on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings in his first loss as a B-Met. Clark’s homer snapped a five-game homerless drought for the B-Mets. Satterwhite had his season-opening scoreless streak snapped at 17 2/3 innings. CHARLOTTE 9, ST. LUCIE 5: St. Lucie committed five errors, including a game-tilting error in the seventh. With the score tied at 4, the Mets failed to turn a would-be inning-ending double play with the bases loaded. Instead, Phillip Evans’ wild throw from second eluded first baseman Aderlin Rodriguez and two runs scored. The Crabs then piled on three more runs on three hits, including an RBI triple by Tyler Goeddel, in the eighth. Goeddel scored on his own triple when Evans could not handle the relay throw from the outfield, making it 9-4. Reliever Jake Kuebler (1-1) allowed four runs (two earned) in two innings and suffered the loss. The Crabs scored all three of their eighth-inning runs against Julian Hilario. Starter Steven Matz tossed five innings in a no-decision. He allowed two runs on five hits and four walks and struck out two. The Mets had taken a 2-1 lead in the third on a solo homer by Jairo Perez, his third long ball of the road trip and fourth of the season. In the fifth, Maikis De La Cruz blasted his third homer of the season to put the Mets up 3-2. The Crabs tied the score against Kuebler in the sixth on Andrew Toles’ RBI single. They took the lead on a bunt by Hector Guevara that brought home Marty Gantt. The Mets managed to tie the score in the seventh when Dilson Herrera beat out an infield single with two outs and Albert Cordero raced home. Box
