LAS VEGAS 7, SALT LAKE 5 (10 innings): Jacob deGrom allowed five runs (four earned) on 10 hits and no walks in five innings. He threw 89 pitches (62 strikes) as his ERA rose to 2.58. The damage included a two-run homer in the first inning by Luis Jimenez. Eric Campbell delivered a tiebreaking RBI double in what became a two-run 10th inning. Vic Black recorded the save, striking out the side. Wilmer Flores, who is expected to be promoted for Friday's series opener against the Phillies, went 3-for-6 with a double and two RBIs. With Las Vegas trailing by two runs and two outs in the top of the ninth, Flores singled to advance Campbell to third base. Allan Dykstra followed with an RBI single to plate Campbell and pull Vegas within a run. Andrew Brown walked to load the bases, and Brandon Allen then walked too to force in the tying run. Anthony Seratelli grounded out to strand the bases loaded with the score tied at 5. Buddy Carlyle, Jeff Walters and Zack Thornton combined for four scoreless relief innings. BINGHAMTON 6, NEW HAMPSHIRE 0: Greg Peavey tossed his first career nine-inning, complete-game shutout. He allowed only two singles as the B-Mets snapped a four-game

Peavey losing streak. It was the first nine-inning shutout by a B-Met since Mark Cohoon blanked Harrisburg on Aug. 10, 2012. Peavey retired the first 11 Fisher Cats he faced before surrendering a two-out single to Andy Burns in the fourth. Peavey (2-1) shook off the hit and posted a scoreless inning. He worked around another two-out single in the fifth. Two innings after Brian Burgamy snapped an 0-for-20 skid, Burgamy also put Binghamton on the board in the third. Following Xorge Carrillo and Kyle Johnson's singles, Burgamy homered against Casey Lawrence for a 3-0 lead. Binghamton added to its lead against Lawrence in the sixth. Jayce Boyd singled. Two batters later, Dustin Lawley bounced a two-out double off the left-field wall, plating Boyd. Given a 4-0 cushion, Peavey continued to cruise. He needed 12 pitches for a perfect sixth, then posted a 1-2-3 seventh. Cory Vaughn padded Binghamton’s lead in the eighth with a two-run homer -- his first long ball of the season, which cleared a 30-foot-high batter’s eye in center. Peavey followed with a perfect eighth. Then, nearing his pitch limit, the righty returned for the ninth. He retired Aaron Munoz on one pitch and fanned Jon Berti for the second out. Kevin Nolan lifted Peavey’s 100th pitch down the right-field line. Vaughn snagged the fly in foul territory, completing Peavey's first career nine-inning performance. PALM BEACH 6, ST. LUCIE 1: Thomas Lee limited the Florida State League’s top offense to one run on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings. The Mets’ lone run came in the third, after Lee surrendered a leadoff single to Phillip Evans and threw a wild pitch that allowed Evans to advance to second. Maikis De La Cruz followed with a run-scoring single. St. Lucie starter Michael Fulmer's downfall came in a sloppy fourth. He retired the first two hitters but gave up a single and walk and threw a wild pitch to put runners at second and third. Jesus Montero -- younger brother of the Mariners' catcher by the same name -- drove in a run to tie the score at 1 on a dribbling infield single up the third-base line. Ildemaro Vargas then hit a routine grounder to Evans, but the shortstop threw the ball out of Dilson Herrera’s reach at second base on what would have been the final out. A run scored and the inning continued. Charlie Tilson lined a two-run double to make it 4-1. David Washington added a two-run homer in the fifth to complete the scoring. Ryan Fraser and Randy Fontanez each pitched two scoreless relief innings for the Mets. Cam Maron and De La Cruz had two hits apiece. SAVANNAH 9, WEST VIRGINIA 3: 2012 first-round pick Gavin Cecchini went 2-for-5 with a homer and three RBIs as the Gnats overcame an early two-run deficit to improve to 21-9.

Cecchini West Virginia struck first, scoring runs in the second and third innings, on Wyatt Mathisen's solo homer and Edwin Espinal's groundout. Although Gnats starter Ricky Knapp was tagged for nine hits in 6 2/3 innings, the right-hander limited the damage to three runs and earned his second win. Savannah responded in the fifth when Patrick Biondi singled home Dominic Smith with two outs. Cecchini then tripled home Biondi to tie the score at 2. Things fell apart for the Power in the sixth courtesy of a series of miscues. After allowing a leadoff single to L.J. Mazzilli, reliever Jerry Mulderig set up the disaster, issuing a wild pitch, walk and another wild pitch to put two runners in scoring position. Gnats runners then scored on Stefan Sabol's groundout, a throwing error by West Virginia catcher and Pirates first-round pick Reese McGuire, Matt Oberste's double, then Colton Plaia's single. Reliever Clario Perez then entered and surrendered a two-run homer to Cecchini to cap the six-run sixth. After notching eight extra-base hits -- all doubles -- in 51 games with Brooklyn last season, Cecchini already has 11 extra-base hits through 29 games with the Gnats, including two triples and three homers. Savannah reliever Tyler Vanderheiden recorded the final seven outs to preserve the lead. Box
