Herrera Matz struck out nine over six scoreless innings to collect his first Double-A victory. Dilson Herrera had a career-high five RBIs. Kyle Johnson singled to open the game, moved to third on Herrera's single and scored when Zack Dodson balked. Binghamton took a 2-0 lead in the third when Xorge Carrillo singled, advanced to second on a sac bunt, took third on a groundout and scored when Herrera beat out an infield single. Herrera added a two-run homer in the fifth. His first Double-A long ball gave Binghamton a five-run lead. In six scoreless innings, Matz stranded seven runners while holding the Curve hitless in eight at-bats with runners in scoring position.

The B-Mets tacked on two runs against Jason Townsend in the seventh. After loading the bases on three straight singles, including one from pinch-hitter Tyler Pill, Binghamton scored on a wild pitch and a fielder’s choice by Herrera. Binghamton nearly threw away its 7-0 lead in the seventh. Reliever Randy Fontanez allowed the first two batters to reach before rebounding with consecutive groundouts. The final out of the inning proved elusive. By the time Adam Kolarek entered, Altoona had cut Binghamton’s lead to 6-4. Following an infield single, Jarek Cunningham then shot a grounder to third baseman Brian Burgamy. Burgamy, who moved to third as part of a double-switch, booted it, allowing a run to score. Kolarek settled down to record the inning's final out, preserving a one-run lead. Altoona resumed its pressure in the eighth with back-to-back one-out singles. With the tying run on third, Cody Satterwhite entered. Stetson Allie chopped his first pitch for an inning-ending double play. With the benefit of an insurance run produced by Burgamy in the ninth, Satterwhite returned for the final inning. He loaded the bases before allowing a run-scoring fielder’s choice to Alen Hanson. Satterwhite survived by striking out Kelson Brown looking to secure his fifth save. Box

Pina on a full-count pitch from Robby Rowland to lead off the half-inning. The Marauders protested the homer, arguing it hooked foul. Plate umpire Adam MacKay maintained his original call. The Mets took a 1-0 lead in the first on Aderlin Rodriguez’s two-out single that scored Jairo Perez. Bradenton answered in the second when Jordan Steranka led off with a solo homer against Gabriel Ynoa. Ynoa otherwise cruised through seven innings. He allowed one run on seven hits, did not walk a batter and struck out five in a 98-pitch effort. The Mets had two great chances to blow the game open but could not come up with a big hit. They loaded the bases against John Kuchno in the sixth but only scored one run, when Maikis De La Cruz grounded into a double play. With runners at second and third and no outs in the seventh, Ryan Hafner threw a wild pitch that allowed Gilbert Gomez to score, which put the Mets up 3-1. L.J. Mazzilli advanced to third with none out but was stranded. Ynoa was in line for his sixth win in his last six starts. However, Josh Bell doubled home Max Moroff in the eighth and later scored on a groundout to tie the score 3. T.J. Chism took over for Robert Coles with runners on first and second and induced an inning-ending double play. Paul Sewald pitched a scoreless ninth and was credited with the win after Pina's heroics. Pina is hitting .370 with five homers and 18 RBIs this month. Box

SAVANNAH 4, ROME 3: With the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, Jorge Rivero

Rivero stroked a one-out line drive into the left-center gap to plate Champ Stuart with the winning run. Stuart began the Gnats’ ninth-inning rally with a walk. The Braves had tied the score with two outs in the top half. With runners on the corners, Savannah reliever Hunter Carnevale struck out Edison Sanchez on a breaking ball in the dirt. The ball kicked away from catcher Jeff Glenn, allowing Sanchez to sprint safely to first and Johan Camargo to score the tying run. To that point, the Gnats had thrown out Braves baserunners at the plate in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings to preserve a 3-2 lead. The most impressive was Stuart’s throw from center to cut down Gerald Chin, which kept the Braves off the scoreboard in the seventh. Box

GCL METS 7, GCL CARDINALS 2: Eighth-round pick Dash Winningham produced his first professional homer -- a two-run shot -- and finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Adrian Almeida earned the win with three no-hit relief innings, albeit walking four while striking out six. Luis Mateo completed the game with two scoreless innings in his third appearance since returning from Tommy John surgery. Shortstop Alfredo Reyes also drove in two runs. Box
