49ers acquire C Nick Easton from Ravens

The San Francisco 49ers have confirmed the trade for center Nick Easton from the Baltimore Ravens for an undisclosed draft pick, pending a physical.

The Ravens announced the deal earlier.

In Easton, the Niners acquire an undrafted rookie from Harvard and get depth at center, where Marcus Martin will start and Daniel Kilgore will begin the season on the PUP list still recovering from a follow-up surgical procedure on the left ankle that was broken last October.

Joe Looney, a fourth-round draft pick in 2012, opened camp as the first-string center but was cut Friday. Rookie Ian Silberman was given reps in camp but had issues, particularly in the shotgun.

It is the second trade in the past two-plus weeks the Niners have made in an attempt to fortify their O-line. On Aug. 18 they acquired Jordan Devey from the New England Patriots for tight end Asante Cleveland and Devey is now the starting right guard.

Guard Andrew Tiller was also cut by the Niners, per his agent, and undrafted rookie quarterback Dylan Thompson was also on his way out. Other reports had the Niners parting ways with cornerback Marcus Cromartie, defensive linemen Kaleb Ramsey and offensive lineman Justin Renfrow as the team pares its roster down to 53 players before the 4 p.m. ET deadline.
