NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans are re-signing defensive end DaQuan Jones to a multiyear deal, the team announced Wednesday. It's a three-year deal worth $21 million with $14 million guaranteed, his agency, CAA, said.

Jones, 26, was having a strong contract year before a torn biceps suffered in December ended his season early. He is a three-year starter in Tennessee who specializes as a run defender with some pass-rush potential.

“It’s unfortunate for DaQuan, he was kind of starting to come on for us and then he had an injury. That is always a tough one, when you have a guy who has a season-ending injury and going into the final year of his contract,” Titans general manager Jon Robinson said last month. “DaQuan works hard, he is a team-first guy, he is a tough guy. And we’ll see how that goes.”

Jones’ rehab is going well, and the Titans saw enough in him to bring him back.

Jones’ play was often hidden because of the dirty work he did in taking double-teams and stopping the run. He made a big splash, notching 3.5 sacks in the final two games before his injury.

The Titans had the NFL’s fourth-best run defense, and Jones, a 2014 fourth-round pick out of Penn State, was a big reason why.
