Champ's top priority: scheduling De La Hoya

LAS VEGAS -- What's next for Ricardo Mayorga? Probably a lot of celebratory beers and a couple of cartons of cigarettes.

On the opponent front, HBO -- which broadcast Saturday night's Mayorga-Vernon Forrest rematch and will re-air it Tuesday on HBO2 -- would love to televise a Mayorga-Forrest rubber match. Mayorga, however, has bigger prey on his mind.

"I want to recognize Vernon Forrest for fighting like a man, but honestly, I think that's the end of him," Mayorga said. "I beat him up pretty good and I think he'll have to go out and get a job now.

"My goal is to tell HBO to please make a fight with Oscar De La Hoya. That's what I really want. I will give HBO one month to make that fight, and if [De La Hoya] doesn't take it, then I would like HBO to give me his home address ... ."

Mayorga doesn't just want to fight boxing's golden boy. He also has it in for one of his fellow bad boys.

"Once I am done with Oscar, I'd love to fight Bernard [Hopkins]," Mayorga said. Hopkins, the undisputed middleweight champion, attended the postfight news conference. "Bernard, if you come down to 154 pounds, I'll come up."
