LAS VEGAS -- Jose Luis Castillo may get his wish for a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr. before the end of summer.

Promoter Bob Arum said he was meeting Wednesday with arena officials to try and make the fight for Aug. 10 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Arum said he hoped the fight could be the first pay-per-view bout for Mayweather, who has had trouble in the past drawing fans for his fights.

"We're certainly exploring pay-per-view," Arum said Tuesday. "It could do reasonably good business, maybe between 200,000 and 300,000 homes."

Mayweather beat Castillo on a unanimous decision Saturday night to take the WBC lightweight title from the Mexican champion and remain unbeaten in 28 fights. But the decision was loudly booed and questioned by both HBO announcers and Castillo's fans.

Castillo called for an immediate rematch and Mayweather said he was willing to give him one.

Arum said Tuesday the disputed win might have been the best thing for Mayweather, who now has something to prove in the rematch.

"This is a spark that could launch him as a big star if he comes through in the ring," the promoter said. "This is the best fight around to break him out on pay-per-view."

Arum has had two successful summer fight cards before at the Staples Center. Two years ago, Shane Mosley beat Oscar De La Hoya at the arena, while last year Roy Jones Jr. beat Julio Gonzalez before a crowd of 20,409.
