FanDuel suspending access to players in New York

Daily fantasy company FanDuel announced Tuesday afternoon that it was no longer allowing customers located in New York to play its games.

"We maintain, unequivocally, that FanDuel has always complied with state and federal law," the company said in a statement. "We look forward to vindicating our position in court next week. We will press on and fight to ensure that your right to play fantasy sports is protected, not just in New York, but across the nation."

The move comes after New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman filed an injunction Tuesday in New York Supreme Court to stop FanDuel and its competitor, DraftKings, from doing business with New York players, accusing the two companies of running an illegal sports gambling operation.

FanDuel lawyers will argue against the injunction on Nov. 25, and if it prevails will likely reopen New York, which makes up roughly 10 percent of its total customer base.
