TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State safety Derwin James suffered a left knee injury in the third quarter of the No. 3 Seminoles' 52-8 win against Charleston Southern and did not return. James is scheduled to undergo an MRI. The school did not have an update on his status after the game. "We'll have to wait and see what the doctors say," Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher said. James, a 6-foot-3, 211-pound sophomore, was hurt making a tackle with the Seminoles leading 42-6. He was heavily limping as he went into the trainers' tent and then again to the cart that took him into the locker room. Fisher said he hoped to play his starters for two series in the second half before subbing them out. "You can second-guess yourself all day, but that can happen walking down the street," he said. As a freshman, James was a third-team All-ACC section, and he was second on Florida State in tackles, tackles for loss, sacks, forced fumbles and recoveries. He led the team in tackles and interceptions through the first game of the 2016 season. Florida State travels to No. 13 Louisville on Sept. 17.
