The second quarter delivered the back-and-forth game many expected for the College Football Playoff national title game.

After Clemson extended its lead to 10 points, Joe Burrow ran in for a touchdown and later connected with Ja'Marr Chase with 5:19 left in the half to give LSU its first lead of the game, 21-17 (watch on ESPN and ESPN App).

Prior to LSU's two touchdowns, Clemson capped a 96-yard, four-play scoring drive.

Earlier in the game, Burrow threw a 52-yard touchdown pass to Chase to even the score at 7. Clemson opened the overall scoring when quarterback Trevor Lawrence ran in for a touchdown with 6:41 left in the opening frame to give the Tigers a 7-0 lead.
