Joe Burrow and LSU extended its lead in Monday's College Football Playoff national title game (watch on ESPN and ESPN App) after completing another long drive, this time with help from the officials.
After Clemson was called for pass interference on third-and-19 with 2:23 left in the second quarter, Burrow found Thaddeus Moss to give LSU a 28-17 lead at halftime.
"Just sloppy way to end it there ... we're just not playing smart right now," Clemson coach Dabo Swinney told ESPN's Maria Taylor at the half.
It was the third straight scoring drive for LSU, which had been trailing by double digits for the first time this season.
With less than three minutes left in the first quarter, LSU evened the score at 7 after Burrow threw a 52-yard touchdown pass to Ja'Marr Chase. Clemson opened the overall scoring when quarterback Trevor Lawrence ran in for a touchdown with 6:41 left in the opening frame to give the Tigers a 7-0 lead.
