Player's injuries not life-threatening

BALTIMORE -- A suspect is in custody after a Morgan State football player
was shot on the university's campus in Baltimore.

The gunman is not a Morgan State student, according to the university.

Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says the shooting happened
around 1 p.m. ET Friday near a residence hall. A spokesman for the
university identified the victim as a football player, and police
say his injuries are not life-threatening.

An eyewitness told the Baltimore Sun she watched a teammate take off the victim's shirt and apply pressure to his wounded leg until paramedics arrived.

"It looks as if it grew from a dispute between two individuals," university spokesman Clint Coleman told the newspaper, "and that dispute resulted in one person being shot."

Police also recovered a weapon.

A shooting on the campus in September also injured one person.
