Vanderbilt hires Louisiana Tech athletic director for deputy AD gig

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Vanderbilt has hired Louisiana Tech athletic director Tommy McClelland and Kristene Kelly from Dartmouth as deputy athletic directors.

Athletic director Candice Lee announced the additions Monday during what she called a "critically important time."

"We are fortunate to have Tommy and Kristene join our Vanderbilt team," Lee said in a statement. "Both are highly regarded leaders, have extensive experience in college athletics, track records of proven success, and are relationship builders."

McClelland had been at Louisiana Tech since 2013, and he will be deputy athletic director for external affairs and revenue generation. He will oversee Vanderbilt's marketing and promotions, ticket operations and sales, fan engagement and hospitality and broadcasting.

Kelly will be deputy athletic director for internal affairs. She was promoted to executive associate athletics director for varsity sports at Dartmouth earlier this year after being senior associate athletics director for varsity sports and senior woman administrator.

She will be Vanderbilt's senior woman administrator representing the university in the SEC and with the NCAA. Kelly will oversee student-athlete health and wellness and student services while being the liaison on campus to other offices.
