- BATSMENRBM4s6sSR0.3 and there it is! Much better delivery that, pitched up to lure Paranavitana forward and then just gently swings away from the left-hander who pushes at it and gets a nick to McCullum and goes for a duck 0/127.1 and he's chopped it onto his stumps! Not a good ball and not a good shot, its short and a bit wide outside off stump but Dilshan flashes a leaden-footed cut and succeeds only in dragging the ball onto the base of off stump, what agony for him after a splendid innings 134/32.6 good grief, Sangakkara's chipped a gift on the pads straight into midwicket's lap! Not a good ball at all, a half-volley on the legs but Sangakkara clips it very hard and picks out Flynn, who has little time to react and does well to gobble that up in his midriff 16/279.6 and this time he's gone! Another short ball from O'Brien forces Jayawardene into a loose shot, he goes back cut but plays it feebly and the extra bounce proves fatal as he edges it flush to Taylor at first slip 300/4115.4 dances down the track to Vettori, making room to go inside out over extra cover, but he plays it straighter and picks out Patel running in and taking the catch low 444/7102.1 edged and gone! Vettori pushes through a short, faster arm ball that forces Mathews onto the back foot and flashing hard, resulting in a faint tickle as he goes hard and McCullum gobbles it up 386/5106.4 and he's taken another! Quicker ball from Vettori drifts onto the pads and Prasana turns it from way in front of his front leg and straight to Flynn at short leg 408/6116.1 simple dismissal, just hits a good length and straightens it and Kulasekara is neither here nor there, pushing inside the line and the thin outer edge is taken 444/8117.4 thats a simple catch for O'Brien at mid-off as Vettori tosses it up invitingly into the rough, gets some turn and bounce, and Thushara miscues an aerial drive, he was looking to go hard but the bite off the track drew a false shot high in the air 452/10116.6 smart catch! The fun ends for Murali, it was brief and not too painful, he flays the bat at a short ball that rises up and McCullum leaps up and does really well to hold onto the thick edge that was traveling high to his right 452/9Extras7 (b 1, lb 2, nb 2, w 2)TOTAL452 all out (117.4 Overs, RR: 3.84, 468 minutes)Fall of wickets: 1-0 (Tharanga Paranavitana, 0.3 ov), 2-16 (Kumar Sangakkara, 2.6 ov), 3-134 (Tillakaratne Dilshan, 27.1 ov), 4-300 (Mahela Jayawardene, 79.6 ov), 5-386 (Angelo Mathews, 102.1 ov), 6-408 (Prasanna Jayawardene, 106.4 ov), 7-444 (Thilan Samaraweera, 115.4 ov), 8-444 (Nuwan Kulasekara, 116.1 ov), 9-452 (Muthiah Muralidaran, 116.6 ov), 10-452 (Thilan Thushara, 117.4 ov)

- BATSMENRBM4s6sSR74.1 pitches outside the off stump and spins in, McIntosh plays forward and the ball misses the bat and strikes the pad, marginally in line, loud appeal and given by the umpire. 188/59.6 well what do you know? After a lovely caress through midwicket Guptill perishes to a loose shot, looking to get up and pull a shorter ball in front of square but succeeding in only dragging it back onto the base of his stumps 45/126.3 Mendis gets Flynn with one that turns back from outside off stump, he pushes forward but doesn't keep the bat close to pad and leaves a sizable gap which results in an inside edge onto off stump 80/244.3 wrong ball to play back to! Its quicker and straighter and the lack of turn does Patel in as he moves back to try and turn the ball away, struck in front of the stumps and Patel goes for 26, one short of a Test best 129/371.2 Thushara strikes, good length delivery angled across Taylor, who plays forward and gets an outside edge through to Jayawardene, a good bowling change. 180/4100.6 loose shot and Ryder pays the price! Lack of concentration does for him as he's late into a forward prod to a length ball nipping in, leaves a sizable gap between pad and bat and drags the inside edge onto the base of off stump 259/877.2 McCullum is cleaned up as he plays half forward to a delivery that came back in just a touch, inside edges and the middle stump is knocked back. 195/686.2 uh oh, that doesn't look out! Murali persists with the googly that pitches outside leg stump and hurries onto Oram who tries to turn it but misses the ball completely, the ball brushes his pad and pops up to Warnapura who gobbles it up, indeed replays don't show any bat or glove and Oram's disappointment is understandable, Harper has erred 223/7115.6 middle stump is flattened! Thushara follows up two short-pitched deliveries with a good yorker on the stumps, Vettori exposes all three sticks to try and dab the ball wide but misses and the faint inside edge does the rest 299/10108.6 wicket No. 100 in Galle for Murali! He strikes with the doosra that goes on, O'Brien is tentative with the footwork and pokes at it and Prasanna does very well to take the thin edge, he's such a smooth operator behind the stumps 290/9Extras23 (b 6, lb 5, nb 11, w 1)TOTAL299 all out (116 Overs, RR: 2.57, 451 minutes)Fall of wickets: 1-45 (Martin Guptill, 9.6 ov), 2-80 (Daniel Flynn, 26.3 ov), 3-129 (Jeetan Patel, 44.3 ov), 4-180 (Ross Taylor, 71.2 ov), 5-188 (Tim McIntosh, 74.1 ov), 6-195 (Brendon McCullum, 77.2 ov), 7-223 (Jacob Oram, 86.2 ov), 8-259 (Jesse Ryder, 100.6 ov), 9-290 (Iain O'Brien, 108.6 ov), 10-299 (Daniel Vettori, 115.6 ov)

- BATSMENRBM4s6sSR3.5 edged and taken! Paranavitana's poor match continues against a gem of a ball that pitches just about back of a length from around the stumps, then leaves him as he pushes at it off the back foot and the thick edge is taken by Taylor to his right at first slip 19/123.1 tossed up invitingly into the rough outside the pads, Dilshan makes room and looks to on-drive but ends up pushing the ball much straighter to Vettori's left, he gets a hand on the ball which ricochets onto the stumps with Sangakkara not inside his crease and he is run out 120/236.6 gone! Patel gets his first wicket of the match as Jayawardene reaches out in front his pad and turns the ball across the drift and gives the bowler catching practice 174/341.3 clears the front leg and swings across the line, having to fetch the ball from against the spin and that does him in, the ball balloons up with the top edge and Taylor follows it from slip and takes the catch near short fine leg, actually more to Young's left side 205/4Extras8 (b 5, lb 3)TOTAL259/4d (49 Overs, RR: 5.28, 208 minutes)Fall of wickets: 1-19 (Tharanga Paranavitana, 3.5 ov), 2-120 (Kumar Sangakkara, 23.1 ov), 3-174 (Mahela Jayawardene, 36.6 ov), 4-205 (Thilan Samaraweera, 41.3 ov)

- BATSMENRBM4s6sSR18.1 oh good ball! The decision to change the angle works a charm as Thushara pitches it just short of a good length and the natural angle brings it back, squares up Guptill and clips the top of off stump, the late movement doing the trick 37/20.5 super catch from Jayawardene at second slip! Kulasekara hits a good length and moves the ball away from Flynn who feels for it away from the body slightly and the outside edge is plucked up by Jayawardene with his right hand inches above the grass 1/123.2 well, well, well what do you know? Jayawardene strikes with his second delivery, tossed up down the leg stump, Taylor doesn't get a long way across as he tries to glance the ball and the thinnest of edges is superbly held by the other Jayawardene, Prasanna, after which Nigel Llong raises the finger to cue mass hysteria on the field from Sri Lanka 45/420.2 beauty of a catch at third slip and its given! Thushara bangs it in short of a length and McIntosh feels for it as it angles across sharply, gets a thick outside edge that flies hard and low to Samaraweera at third slip who reacts superbly to cup the ball to his left as it dies on him, he just gets the fingers underneath it between the legs and celebrates, the umpires go upstairs to confirm and after a few minutes confirmation comes in that it was indeed a clean catch 39/337.3 gone sweeping! Mendis pitches the ball on line with middle and off and drifts the ball in to Oram who dangerously opts to sweep, the ball hits him in front of middle 86/561.5 and Sri Lanka celebrate! Mendis tosses up one into the rough outside off stump and gets some turn away from the bat, ala Murali's dismissal of Ryder, and Vettori gets a thin outside edge to Prasanna who does well once more to hold onto the catch 167/750.5 good ball, good take! Murali delivers the suckerpunch to get Ryder, tosses the ball up into the rough outside off stump and gets sharp turn away from the bat, Ryder is lured forward and the outside edge is superbly taken by Prasanna 134/671.5 and there it is, courtesy Murali's arm once more! Mendis bowls a shorter ball, pushed through quicker, McCullum again stays on the back foot and forces the ball to extra cover, Murali runs in from mid-off, picks and throws in one action and nails down the stumps with a direct hit, catching McCullum just short 210/1068.5 superb work from bowler and wicketkeeper! Murali rips that gen of a ball across Patel, pushing it in quicker, he is lured forward and his back foot drags out momentarily and thats enough for Prasanna to collect and break the sticks in one smooth motion 204/870.6 pushes forward at this one and gets an inside edge back onto the pad, which pops up to Paranavitana at silly point who dives forward and holds on 210/9Extras8 (b 4, lb 1, nb 3)TOTAL210 all out (71.5 Overs, RR: 2.92, 290 minutes)Fall of wickets: 1-1 (Daniel Flynn, 0.5 ov), 2-37 (Martin Guptill, 18.1 ov), 3-39 (Tim McIntosh, 20.2 ov), 4-45 (Ross Taylor, 23.2 ov), 5-86 (Jacob Oram, 37.3 ov), 6-134 (Jesse Ryder, 50.5 ov), 7-167 (Daniel Vettori, 61.5 ov), 8-204 (Jeetan Patel, 68.5 ov), 9-210 (Iain O'Brien, 70.6 ov), 10-210 (Brendon McCullum, 71.5 ov)
