Huge celebrations in the crowd, all the West Indians come up to congratulate him, the commentators fall over themselves to deliver the ultimate eulogy, and Pollock takes off his helmet and gloves, and heads off to the boundary's edge where his team-mates have gathered to pat him on the back.

And now Pollock is hoisted on the shoulders of his team-mates, even the injured Andre Nel, to be paraded round the ground. "Shaun Pollock. Giving ginger kids street cred since 1995". The banner says it all.

"It's been a wonderful journey for 13 years," says Pollock. "I feel emotionally drained but the atmosphere at each and every ground has carried me. I can't think of a better venue than the Wanderers to finish." He's starting to well up now, having kept his composure throughout the match, and indeed the series - which, incidentally, has ended as a 5-0 whitewash.

For Dwayne Bravo, West Indies' beaten captain, it's a disappointing end to the series, but he believes his side has learned a lot, and will return home to the Caribbean with pride.

The Man of the Match is Herschelle Gibbs, for his blistering century, and the Man of the Series has been awarded jointly to JP Duminy for his 226 runs, and that man Pollock, for bowing out in the manner that he has performed throughout his career. That pretty much wraps it up from here. Congratulations to South Africa and to Pollock. We've been Andrew Miller and Will Luke.

Rampaul to Kallis, 5 runs, now that's unfortunate, Kallis drives into the covers, makes his ground, the ball hits the base of the stumps and ricochets all the way for five overthrows

Twelve runs needed, 18 balls left. This one's in the bag - it's all about Pollock now ...
