New Zealand 303 for 6 (Green 94, Amelia Kerr 80, Chatonzwa 2-48) beat Zimbabwe 103 (Tshuma 34, Amelia Kerr 5-22) by 200 runs
Amelia Kerr produced a superb all-round display, including a hat-trick, to lead New Zealand to a commanding 200-run victory over Zimbabwe in the third ODI in Dunedin on Wednesday and seal a 3-0 series sweep. The new New Zealand captain scored 80 before returning to claim 5 for 22 as Zimbabwe were bundled out cheaply.
Batting first, New Zealand posted an imposing 303 for 6. Amelia Kerr anchored the innings with a composed knock off 106 balls, striking ten fours to lay the foundation. Maddy Green provided the main acceleration with 94 off 73 deliveries, hitting 12 boundaries, while Brooke Halliday contributed a useful 40. A late cameo from Isabella Gaze, who finished unbeaten on 18, pushed the total past the 300-mark. For Zimbabwe, Christabel Chatonzwa was the pick of the bowlers with 2 for 48, while Tendai Makusha, Adel Zimunu and Precious Marange claimed a wicket each.
Zimbabwe struggled in the chase and were bowled out for 103 in 27.1 overs. Loreen Tshuma offered brief resistance with 34 from 41 balls, but wickets fell regularly as New Zealand maintained control. Rosemary Mair took 2 for 16 and Nensi Patel chipped in with 1 for 16.
Amelia Kerr then ripped through the lower order, finishing with five wickets in 3.1 overs, including a hat-trick that removed Audrey Mazvishaya, Tendai Makusha and Nomvelo Sibanda in the 24th over of the chase. Her all-round brilliance earned her both Player of the Match and Player of the Series honours after she finished the series with 140 runs and 16 wickets in her first assignment as New Zealand's white-ball captain.
New Zealand will next face South Africa for five T20Is and three ODIs at home, starting March 15.
