Hobart Hurricanes 7 for 209 (Dunk 87, Gannon 3-42) beat Brisbane Heat 8 for 169 (Pomersbach 60, Boyce 3-21) by 40 runs
Scorecard
Ben Dunk blasted Hobart above Brisbane in the Big Bash League table with a convincing victory at the Bellerive Oval. Dunk's 87 helped his side to a huge total that was easily defended with three wickets for Cameron Boyce.
Hobart again enjoyed the Brisbane bowling, racking up the second-highest total of the competition - one run shy of their own joint competition-leading score, also made against Brisbane.
Dunk had eight balls to steady himself before unleashing a straight drive past Daniel Vettori and he was on his way.
He found the boundary with regularity - seven fours and three sixes in total - but was outshone in the early stages by his opening partner Tim Paine who slugged 47 in 28 balls. The pair added 98 for the opening wicket before Paine was caught in the tenth over.
Thereafter, Hobart never found another significant innings but Evan Gulbis swung 22 from 12 balls late in the piece to push his side over 200.
Brisbane's response also came from the top of the order, Luke Pomersbach striking three sixes in 60 from 32 balls. But he was dismissed before the half-way stage of the chase and the damage done by Dimitri Mascarenhas and Boyce left the lower order with too much work to do and they never came close.
Mascarenhas made the initial breakthrough having Craig Kieswetter caught behind and then bowled Joe Burns third ball for a duck. Boyce then took two wickets in seven balls to leave the Heat in an icy position.
