One-run defeat keeps Canterbury winless

Otago 196 for 7 (Bracewell 61, ten Doeschate 47) beat Canterbury 195 for 7 (Worker 47, Fuller 1-21) by one run
Scorecard

Canterbury failed by a single run to claim their first HRV Cup win of the season in a high-scoring game at Timaru. It was no day for the bowler's as almost 400 runs were scored in the match.

Canterbury chose to field only to see Ryan ten Doeschate and Michael Bracewell take the game away from them in the middle order. The pair put on 101 in 51 balls with ten Doeschate striking three sixes in his 47 from just 27 balls. Bracewell went one better with four sixes in his 61 from 32 balls.

In reply, Canterbury had contributions from George Worker, 47 from 30 balls, captain Tom Latham's 39 and Worcestershire's Gareth Andrew who needed just 19 balls for 37. But they were all dismissed before the job was done and ultimately James Fuller - whose 1 for 21 in four overs was by some distance the most economical of the match - was the difference.
