South Africa women will head into the limited-overs series against West Indies without two key players - fast bowler Shabnim Ismail and wicketkeeper batsman Trisha Chetty. Chetty has been ruled out of the tour with a back injury, while Ismail has been allowed to return home after her father fell ill.

A Cricket South Africa press release said: "Chetty suffered a disc protrusion on her lower back and has been ruled out of the outing. Ismail has pulled out due to family responsibility after her father fell gravely ill."

While no replacement has been named for Ismail, Chetty's place will be taken by 19-year old Faye Tunnicliffe, who plays for Boland. That takes the number of uncapped players on this tour for South Africa to four.

In the initial squad announcement, Tumi Sekhukhune, Saarah Smith and Robyn Searle received their first call-ups after impressing at a North vs South competition in Pretoria.

The three-match ODI series and the first T20I will be played at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, before the sides will move to the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad for the remaining four T20Is.

South Africa will view this as an important tour, not least for its timing, coming as it does before the World T20 in November, also in West Indies. South Africa will be eager to put a disappointing tour of England in the summer, where they lost 2-1 to the hosts in the three-match ODI series, before finishing bottom of a T20I tri-series that also included New Zealand.
