Stats: Dhoni and Bravo - champions, special one-twos from Gaikwad-du Plessis and Harshal-Avesh

IPL, Cricket

4 - IPL titles won by Chennai Super Kings, the second most after Mumbai Indians, who have five. It was also the sixth T20 title for Super Kings, who also won two Champions League titles, which places them behind only Sialkot Stallions (eight) and Mumbai Indians (seven).

1 - Dwayne Bravo and MS Dhoni now hold the record for winning the most T20 finals as a player and as a captain respectively. Bravo, part of 16 wins in T20 finals, leads Kieron Pollard (16), while Dhoni, with eight titles, went past Rohit Sharma's tally of seven.

40y, 100d - Dhoni's age on Friday, when Super Kings played the final against Kolkata Knight Riders, making him the oldest to play an IPL final. The previous oldest to feature in an IPL final was Imran Tahir (40y, 46d) when he played in 2019 for Super Kings against Mumbai Indians. The 2021 final was also the 300th T20 match as a captain for Dhoni.

100 - Super Kings' win percentage while chasing this season - they won six out of six. They are now the first side with a 100% win record while batting second in an IPL season.

115 - Sixes hit by Super Kings batters this season - they are the only ones to top 100. Super Kings were also the only side to concede 100 or more sixes this season, giving away 104.

756 - Partnership runs between Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis in this IPL, the most by any pair. These are the third-most partnership runs by a pair in an edition of IPL, behind 939 by Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in 2016 and 791 by Jonny Bairstow and David Warner in 2019.

Gaikwad (635 runs) and du Plessis (633) finished one and two on the run-scoring chart, only the second time players from the same team have achieved that; the previous instance was in 2011, when Chris Gayle and Kohli, of Royal Challengers Bangalore, did it.

1166 - Runs by 35-plus Super Kings players, by far the most for a team this season. Their 1166 runs are second only to their own record of 1350 in 2020.

104 - Wickets by uncapped pacers this season. Only two IPL seasons had more - 120 in 2012 and 112 in 2008.

Harshal Patel (32 wickets) and Avesh Khan (24) claimed the top-two places in the list of highest wicket-takers in 2021. It's the first time an uncapped player has won the Purple Cap, and their tallies put them ahead of Yuzvendra Chahal (23 in 2015) in the list for most wickets by an uncapped bowler in a season.

11 - Single-digit scores for Eoin Morgan, the most by any player in any T20 series or tournament. The previous highest was ten, for Ali Brown in the 2010 Twenty20 Cup.

The previous record for most single-figure dismissals in an IPL season was nine, by Deepak Hooda (2016) and Dinesh Karthik (2020).
