In what is quickly becoming an alarming trend, SK Telecom T1 was swept for the third time in a row, this time by the Jin Air Green Wings on Tuesday to open up Week 7 of League of Legends Champions Korea in Seoul, South Korea.
SK Telecom T1 (9-4, 18-11 match record) started its slump started at Rift Rivals, and it's still happening over two weeks later. SKT looked lost against Jin Air still and was unable to do much of anything across the map in Game 1.
SKT mid laner Lee "Faker" Seong-hyuk's Syndra was killed twice within the first 15 minutes, and the rest of SKT faced a huge disadvantage in every lane, too. SKT tried everything it could to get back into the game, including a few questionable engages that simply put them farther behind.
Jin Air (6-7, 15-15 match record) picked up a Baron in the 23rd minute that put it up by 11,000 gold by the time the buff had expired. With enough of a lead at that point, Jin Air walked into SKT's base to secure the 28-minute win.
SKT tried to switch things up for Game 2 by putting in jungler Han "Peanut" Wang-ho, but it was essentially a worthless move. Just as in the first game, Faker's Taliyah tripped coming out the gate with an early death that set his team back tremendously.
Jin Air kept rolling right along from there with two more kills in the bottom lane before it started to routinely take fights against SKT. Every time the defending world champions found a good initiation or engagement, Jin Air collapsed in and decisively took the fight.
There was simply nothing that SKT could do to stop what Jin Air was putting out in this 35-minute loss. Quite frankly, SKT looks like a completely different team than the one the League of Legends community is used to seeing. With just two and a half weeks left in the season and playoffs looming in the distance, it has little time to recover from this skid.
SKT faces Longzhu Gaming, which is No. 2 in the LCK rankings, at 4 a.m. ET on Thursday. Jin Air has a date with the ROX Tigers at 7 a.m. ET on Sunday.
