Counter Logic Gaming started off the second half of North America's League of Legends Championship Series Summer Split with a 2-0 sweep of FlyQuest in Los Angeles.
It certainly wasn't all pretty for Counter Logic Gaming to kick off Week 6, as FlyQuest held a small lead through the first 20 minutes thanks to AD carry Jason "WildTurtle" Tran's Kalista and support Daerek "LemonNation" Hart's Sona. Together, the bottom lane duo dominated the laning phase and then roamed to help build a lead in kills, turrets and gold. However bad shot calling ultimately doomed FlyQuest, as a handful of dreadful engages, including a mismanaged Baron attempt, gave CLG enough time to get its carries like Tristana and Vel'Koz up to speed. Despite trailing by almost 6,600 into the 40-minute mark, Counter Logic Gaming managed to swing a subsequent 4-for-0 teamfight win into a stunning Game 1 victory.
In Game 2, Counter Logic Gaming picked away Kalista for AD carry Trevor "Stixxay" Hayes and it paid off with him securing first blood in an early 2-vs-2. The opening kill gave Stixxay bottom lane dominance and allowed CLG support Zaqueri "aphromoo" Black's Thresh to roam, initiating plays which in turn helped earn kill advantages all over the Rift. CLG methodically rotated the map and expanded its control into FLY's base with little resistance. FlyQuest looked lost in teamfights as it got blown up throughout Game 2 and only secured a measly two kills to CLG's 24. Counter Logic Gaming finally put together its series-ending push after taking Elder Dragon and Baron around the 34-minute mark.
