esports

OMG defeated I May in a convincing 2-0 sweep Thursday during Week 7, Day 1 of the League of Legends Pro League in Shanghai.

The series between I May and OMG started out with a bloodbath of a game. With both teams finding strong picks in draft, the early game reflected each side's power picks. OMG quickly found several kills for AD carry Han "SmLz" Jin's Jhin as well as mid laner Xie "icon" Tian Yu's Cho'Gath. On the other side, I May found itself constantly getting kills for its AD carry Xie "Jinjiao" Jin-Shan, who was able to pick up an early advantage using Varus. After falling behind several thousand gold, I May forced a Baron for itself at 24-minutes, but the buff was essentially countered thanks to OMG top laner Hu "Xiyang" Bin's Trundle as he managed to knock down an inhibitor. Unable to use its buff effectively, I May continued to trade kills while Xiyang quietly split pushed away, ultimately knocking down both Nexus towers before the 28-minute mark. As the game extended into the late game, OMG's beefier teamfight composition began to gain a distinct advantage. Taking a convincing 33-minute teamfight victory, OMG was able to claim a victory to start off the series.

Game 2 saw a slightly different draft, with I May opting to take both Cho'Gath an Jhin from OMG; the champions that caused them the most difficulty in Game 1. OMG responded by drafting a huge area of effect composition with Jarvan for top laner Xiyang, Sejuani for jungler Huang "Jiekou" Zi-Xiang , and Galio for mid laner icon. The combination immediately paid off with a three-man dive working swiftly to pick up first blood for icon. Although the game slowed down, I May's Jinjiao was able to pick up several kills with Jhin to assist his team in stopping the onslaught of OMG. While he was able to stop the bleeding for a small amount of time, icon's Galio in conjunction with the long-range tower demolition from Smlz's Caitlyn allowed OMG to swiftly crack the enemy base and flood it with super minions. Ha-woon "Athena" Kang's Orianna was not enough waveclear for I May as it desperately tried to hold onto its sole remaining inhibitor at 38-minutes and became overrun by minions. OMG took this opportunity to force a fight and take a final teamfight victory, closing out the game and securing the 2-0 series sweep.
