Top six adds for fantasy baseball playoff matchups

Brandon Belt launches a home run into the cold San Francisco night. Larry Placido/Icon Sportswire

Two weeks remain in the fantasy baseball season, and with each passing day, chasing playing time becomes more and more valid. The matchups, too, become increasingly relevant, so expect the recommended pickups in this space to lean more towards either of those angles. Here are Monday's more-than-three players to pick up and start:

Brandon Belt, 1B, San Francisco Giants: The Giants haven't yet locked up the National League West title, possessing a mere one-game lead over their rival, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and that honor would be an important one for a team that currently has only three reliable, full-strength starting pitchers. Expect their hitters to continue to play regularly, at least through week's end, and Giants hitters get a huge boost with a three-game weekend series (Sept. 24-26) at Colorado's Coors Field. Belt is a career .329/.389/.570 hitter with 13 home runs in 74 games there, he was 5-for-10 at Coors in their most recent visit earlier this month, and he remains available in more than 55% of ESPN leagues. Even better: The Giants are scheduled to face nothing but right-handed starting pitchers this week, and Belt has hit 22-of-26 home runs against righties with an OPS 75 points higher against them than left-handers in 2021.
