The ASEAN Football Federation have confirmed that the next edition of the AFF Suzuki Cup will take place from April 11 to May 8, 2021. The biennial tournament, which features Southeast Asia's national teams doing battle for regional bragging rights, was initially set to take place at the end of 2020.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was previously announced that the competition would be postponed to next year, with an April to May schedule now confirmed.

A statement released by the AFF outlined the plan to hold the tournament in its full format, rather than a shortened or condensed version that other competitions have pivoted to.

"This latest decision has been taken with a firm intention to stage the Championship in its full format - played on a home and away basis across the qualifying nations in South East Asia - provided that the conditions relating to Covid-19 allow," statement said.

Vietnam will head into the competition as defending champions, having defeated Malaysia 3-2 on aggregate in the 2018 final.
