Chikatara hat trick fires Nigeria past Niger; Guinea and Tunisia draw

Elvis Chikatara scored a second-half hat trick to help Nigeria sweep away Niger by a comfortable 4-1 scoreline in the teams' Group C opener at the African Nations Championship on Monday in Rwanda.

The 2014 edition's third-placed team, Nigeria scored all four goals in the second half after the opening period ended scoreless.

Moses Okoro opened their account just seconds after the break before Chikatara took over, scoring in the 74th, 82nd and 90th minute to seal the points.

Victorien Adebayor scored the lone goal for Niger.

In the other game, Tunisia and Guinea battled to a back-and-forth 2-2 draw, with Guinea's Alseny Camara twice answering Ahmed Akaichi strikes.

Akaichi's opener came in the 33rd minute, with Camara pulling Guinea even just seven minutes later.

Akaichi's second in the 51st minute looked set to hold up, but Camara stepped in again, this time seven minutes from the final whistle, to earn Guinea the point.
