Carlos Tevez has said he "will watch the World Cup on TV" after being left out of Argentina's 35-man preliminary World Cup squad.
Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli included Boca Juniors players Cristian Pavon and Pablo Perez but not their teammate Tevez.
The 34-year-old forward has not featured for the national side since October 2015, when he made his 76th appearance.
"There was always talk about those same players that would go and they have been included. I don't give it too much importance. I will watch the World Cup on TV with my feet in the sand," he told TyC Sports.
"When I came back [to Boca Juniors], I had the hope of being in the national team, but now the last game [of the season] can't come soon enough for me as I need to rest. I'm not there, my body doesn't respond and it's in pain.
"I will always try to find my best level, I desire that more than anyone else. I want to help Boca play well and stand out."
Racing Club's Lautaro Martinez is the only Argentina-based forward named in Sampaoli's squad.
Four Serie A players -- Roma's Diego Perotti, Inter Milan's Mauro Icardi and Juventus pair Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain - are named along with Barcvelona's Lionel Messi and Manchester City's Sergio Aguero.
Sampaoli will cut his list to 23 on Monday as he prepares Argentina, who have not won the World Cup since 1986, for group games against Croatia, Iceland and Nigeria.
