Roma striker Patrik Schick out for two weeks with thigh injury

New Roma striker Patrik Schick has been ruled out for a fortnight with a thigh injury.

Schick, a deadline-day signing from Sampdoria, made his Roma debut in the final 15 minutes of their 3-0 win over Hellas Verona last weekend, but he missed the 4-0 win at Benevento in midweek with an injury that will also see him miss games against Udinese and AC Milan in Serie A and Qarabag in the Champions League.

He should return to training during the next international break and Roma hope he will be fit to face Napoli on Oct. 14.

"Patrik Schick underwent further tests on his left thigh today," a statement on the Serie A club's website read. "The tests confirmed the presence of oedema in the proximal third of the myotendinous junction in the rectus femoris muscle.

"The 21-year-old forward, who made his Roma debut against Verona last Saturday, will continue with his rehabilitation programme. He is expected to recover in approximately two weeks' time."

Schick scored 11 goals for Sampdoria in his first Serie A season last term, but a summer move to Juventus fell through.

Roma then beat Inter Milan to sign the 21-year-old, although he arrived with a thigh injury that delayed his debut, and he has now suffered a recurrence of that injury.

Edin Dzeko has scored five of Roma's nine goals in four Serie A games this season.
