Tests have confirmed that Atletico Madrid midfielder Tiago Mendes suffered a hamstring injury in Tuesday's 1-0 win at PSV Eindhoven and will now face a spell on the sidelines.

The club announced in a statement: "Tiago suffers a grade I-II muscular lesion in the biceps femoris muscle of his right thigh. The player will do alternative work in the gym with our physiotherapists to return as soon as possible to the team."
No time frame has been set for Tiago's return but the 35-year-old player is expected to miss La Liga encounters against Sporting Gijon, Barcelona and Deportivo La Coruna and a Champions League Group D match against Bayern Munich on Sept. 28.
