Harry Novillo joins Manisaspor from Melbourne City

Harry Novillo has left Melbourne City to play for Manisaspor in Turkey's second division.

The French winger has signed a two-year deal, putting an end to his A-League stint.

City were reportedly paid more than AU$500,000 for the transfer, given he had a year remaining on his contract.

Novillo was brought in to coach John van `t Schip's set-up in March last year as an injury replacement for veteran Damien Duff.

He scored 10 goals and contributed six assists last season to help steer City to the semifinals, however the 24-year-old's status as a fan favourite was damaged by off-field issues early this year.

Novillo was stood down for a fortnight in February after being detained by police following a domestic dispute with his partner.

Though he wasn't charged, it's understood City were eager to let the Lyon youth academy product go.

"I believe I can take my career in a different direction at Manisaspor," Novillo told the club's website.

"The president wants to see me here too, and all the good references I have received about Manisaspor are among the reasons I chose this place."
