As league seasons reach their conclusion across Europe, Asisat Oshoala is honoured for her remarkable achievements this season by returning to the top of our Women's Power Rankings.
There are familiar faces all around in the top 10, with Namibia's Zenatha Coleman returning to our list and Zambia's Racheal Kundananji climbing up the ladder.
Special mention should go to Fatoumata Kanteh of Sporting de Huelva, who is on our radar, but narrowly missed out due to her upturn in goalscoring being very recent.
1. Asisat Oshoala, Barcelona
Oshoala finished the Primera Iberdrola season joint-top of the goalscoring charts, sharing the Golden Boot with Geyse Ferreira, as Barca ended the league season unbeaten.
The Super Falcons striker scored 20 goals in 19 league appearances, despite injury ruling her out for two months, and was on target twice in May in all competitions.
First, she scored Barça's second goal in their 5-1 league drubbing of Sevilla. Then, she scored again in a 4-0 Copa de la Reina win over Real Madrid.
While this is a rankings system largely based on monthly form, Oshoala's place at the top of the rankings also acknowledges her remarkable achievements over the course of the season as a whole.
2. Tabitha Chawinga, Wuhan Jiangda
Chawinga maintained her spot on top of the Chinese Women's Super League goalscoring charts, adding three goals to her name in May to put her season tally on eight.
The Malawi international scored against Guangdong Meizhou Hakka in a 3-1 win before picking up a brace in a 6-0 thrashing of Jiangsu Wuxi.
Wuhan Jiangda lead the Super League standings at the time of writing with a perfect 30 points from 10 matches, eight clear of second-placed Jiangsu Suning.
3. Racheal Kundananji, Eibar
Eibar were relegated from the Primera Iberdrola, but it was not for any lack of trying from Zambia forward Kundananji, who is one of Africa's most in-form players with five goals from her last four matches, including three from three in May.
Having netted twice in a 3-2 defeat to Granadilla Tenerife on April 16, Kundananji began the new month with a bang, scoring in a 1-1 draw with Villarreal. Her goal in a 3-1 loss to Atlético Madrid proved nothing more than consolation, but the same cannot be said of her most recent notch in a 5-1 win over Valencia.
Kundananji finished the league season with eight goals from 21 appearances in the league, a healthy strike rate for a 21-year-old newcomer to Spain.
4. Thembi Kgatlana, Atlético Madrid
Kgatlana's season was a frustrating one at times, but she finished strong with goals in May against Levante and former club Eibar, also assisting Leicy Santos for another goal in the Levante win.
It was not quite enough to help Atléti into the Champions League as they finished fourth in the Primera Iberdrola, one point behind city rivals Real Madrid, who clinched the last available spot.
South Africa's Kgatlana finished the league season on six goals, at a respectable strike rate of one every 139 minutes.
5. Francisca Ordega, CSKA Moscow
Nigeria veteran Ordega started and ended May in fine form as she scored for CSKA in their first game of the month, a 4-2 win over Chertanovo, and their last, a 4-0 victory over Krasnodar.
Ordega now has four goals in 12 matches in the league this season, with CSKA second in the standings, four points behind leaders Zenit, who have played one game fewer.
6. Zenatha Coleman, Fenerbahçe
Coleman has made a significant impact at Turkish giants Fenerbahçe since joining from Sevilla. She scored in their 3-0 league playoff quarter-final win over Hakkarigücü Spor to set up a semi-final clash with Fatih Karagümrük.
However, having lost the first leg 1-0, Coleman's side now have their work cut out for them as they look to overturn the deficit on June 5.
7. Ifeoma Onumonu, Gotham FC
Onumonu has been prolific for Gotham since joining in 2020 and got off the mark for the current campaign with the winner in a 1-0 victory over celebrity-studded Angel City FC.
The Super Falcons striker netted in the 57th minute, when Angel City's failure to clear Caprice Dydasco's ball allowed Midge Purce to tee up the Nigeria international for a near-post finish.
8. Rosemonde Kouassi, Fleury 91
Kouassi has been on our radar recently due to her impressive goalscoring form for Fleury at the tender age of 20.
The Ivorian scored in the 5-0 win over Issy to take her tally for the season to four league goals in 13 appearances at a strike rate of one per 186 minutes - a solid record which she looks set to build on in years to come.
9. Claudine Meffometou, Fleury 91
Fleury 91's impressive month, featuring the aforementioned 5-0 win over Issy and a 4-2 triumph over Saint-Étienne, was a team effort for which right-back Meffometou deserves her share of the credit.
The Cameroon international has been a mainstay in a Fleury side that has performed admirably this season and is assured of fourth place with one game to play.
10. Estelle Johnson, Gotham FC
Cameroon veteran Johnson remains influential at the heart of defence for Gotham and helped them to clean sheets in wins over Orlando Pride and Angel City.
The team endured a blip in form in the middle of the month, with defeats to San Diego Wave and Racing Louisville. However, they appear to be back on track.
