Arda Turan came off the bench to help Barcelona beat Borussia Monchengladbach 2-1 on Wednesday and Luis Enrique is delighted he's finally beginning to show what he's capable of.
The Turkish international joined Barca from Atletico Madrid last summer, although he was unable to make his debut until January due to the club's transfer ban.
He struggled to make a mark in his first season in Catalonia, but has begun the new campaign in much better form.
His equalising goal in Germany was his third since August and set Barca on their way to a second successive Champions League win, with Gerard Pique netting the winning goal in the win.
"I'm really happy with Arda's performance," Luis Enrique said after the hard-fought victory at Borussia Park.
"This year he's showing the form we all knew he was capable of.
"He's helping the team a lot, but that's something we knew he'd do when we signed him."
Barca captain Andres Iniesta also had words of praise for substitute Turan, who almost scored a second with a delicate chip which was tipped over the bar.
"Arda's contribution was key, not just in terms of his goal, but also for everything else he added. That's the beauty of this squad," Iniesta said.
Arda was one of two players introduced before the hour mark, with Rafinha also coming on as Luis Enrique shuffled his pack in a bid to get back in the game.
The Barca boss explained his reasoning for the changes and insisted he felt the Blaugrana were worthy winners despite struggling in the first half.
"I sincerely believe the result was fair," he declared.
"It wasn't easy to win here. I want to remind you [Monchengladbach] were 18 games unbeaten at home, including 11 straight wins -- so you can see how tough it is to win here.
"We made the substitutions [after the break] to try and open the pitch up and to get players between the lines. In the second half we were better positioned on the pitch than in the first half.
"In the first half we expected that they'd press us more, but they didn't. They sat back and that made things difficult because they don't usually do that at home."
