Will Liverpool be out of sight vs. Man United by half-time?

Small profit for the column in midweek and we were only denied a 10/1 treble winner by Blackpool's inability to beat Reading. There's another busy weekend to look forward to and all eyes will be on Anfield for Liverpool's clash with Manchester United.

Running total: -£20.52

The Banker

Liverpool are seeking an incredible 21st win of the season in 22 Premier League matches this weekend. The only team in the league they have not beaten so far? That would be Manchester United. The Red Devils drew 1-1 with Jurgen Klopp's men at Old Trafford, but since then Liverpool have won 12 league games on the spin to put themselves firmly in the box seat at the top of the table.

Rather unsurprisingly, Klopp's men have been chalked up as 2/5 shots with bet365 for the win, but Manchester United are not entirely without hope here. This is a fixture they normally raise their game for, and this is underlined by the fact the visitors have lost only one of their last eight meetings between the teams. Any side with Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford (who remains an injury doubt) up top will always have a chance and it's not beyond the realms of fantasy that United could soak up a lot of Liverpool pressure and hit them on the break, much like they did against Manchester City before Christmas. However, this Liverpool side have been relentless this season, and have not lost at Anfield in the Premier League since April 2017.

Though they have been steady if unspectacular in recent weeks, there is every chance they could go for the kill early against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men and for this reason it could be worth taking 11/10 that Liverpool are ahead at half-time and full-time at Anfield.

Selection: £6 on Liverpool - Liverpool double result at 11/10 with bet365.

The First Goal Flutter

Chelsea should be too good for injury ravaged Newcastle on Saturday night and Tammy Abraham looks a decent bet to score first in that one at 11/4. Steve Bruce will know all about Abraham from their days together at Aston Villa but knowing about him and stopping him are two different things. Abraham has 13 goals in 21 matches so far and can add to that tally on Tyneside.

Selection: £2 on Abraham to score first at 11/4 with bet365.

The Tasty Treble

Burnley have lost their last four (and seven of their last nine) so Leicester City are a tempting price at 4/5 to add to their misery at Turf Moor. The Foxes will be desperate to bounce back from their coupon-busting 'performance' against Southampton last weekend and have the class to claim a big three points here. Add in Chelsea at 1/2 to see of Newcastle and back over 3.5 goals when Manchester City host Crystal Palace. The Eagles stunned Pep Guardiola's men in the corresponding fixture last season but City have already scored an incredible 62 goals so far this season.

Selection: £4 on the treble at 3.86/1 with bet365.

The Euro Wager

Granada caused a shock back in September by beating Barcelona 2-0 and the smart play on Sunday could be backing the Andalusian outfit on the handicaps. New Barca boss Quique Setien will want to make a splash in his first home game in charge but Granada are no mugs and very solid defensively. Barcelona are top of the table on goal difference from Real Madrid and, while they should make it win No. 13 of the season, Granada should keep things respectable at the Camp Nou and look a decent shout at 8/5 with a two-goal handicap.

Selection: £2.50 on Granada (+2) to beat Barcelona at 8/5 with bet365.

The Wildcard Tip

Watford were magnificent against Bournemouth last time out and should be raring to go against Tottenham after their FA Cup third-round replay was postponed in midweek. The Hornets have improved significantly under Nigel Pearson and from being heavy odds on shots for the drop just a few short weeks ago are now out of the bottom three. Harry Kane is a massive miss for Spurs and Watford look a great price here to beat Jose Mourinho's side, who have won just two of their last 17 Premier League away matches.

Selection: £2 on Watford to win and both teams to score at 9/2 with bet365.
