Incheon United's new Vietnamese midfield star Luong Xuan Truong has told the South Korean media that he is taking inspiration from Park Ji-sung ahead of the K-League season that kicks off in March. The 20 year-old is on loan for a season from Hoang Ahn Gia Lai FC, one of Vietnam's top clubs. He is looking forward to showing Asia's oldest professional league what he, Vietnam and Southeast Asian football in general, are capable of. "In the future, I want to play like Park Ji-sung who did so well in the English Premier League and Manchester United, he set the example," Xuan Truong told the Korean media. Park is the most successful Asian export in history; winning lots of silverware including four English Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League. Anything approaching Park's success would be significant. Southeast Asian players have struggled to establish themselves in the top leagues of East Asia -- Japan, South Korea and China. If Xuan Truong can shine for the 2015 Korea FA Cup runners-up, then the consequences for other players from his region will be positive. He hopes that he can be something of a trailblazer. "There are lots of good players in Vietnam, I am just one of them. If I can show some of the kind of talent there is then that would be great." "I know this is going to be a difficult challenge for me but I am ready for it," said Xuan Truong. "I have seen K-League games on television in Vietnam and I know that the K-League and the J-League are the two best leagues in Asia." There is a growing Vietnamese population in Korea, much of which lives close to the port city of Incheon located close to the capital Seoul, and the club is hopeful that many will come to watch Xuan Truong. "I am looking forward to the challenge," he said. "I hope I can make my country proud."
