Key African transfer angles to watch this week

Last week, we saw Kelechi Iheanacho secure his hotly anticipated move, as Leicester City parted with £25 million to sign him from Manchester City, but which of the continent's stars are set to follow in his footsteps?

Which of these hot transfer angles are set to boil over this week, and which deals are bubbling under?

Riyad Mahrez has featured prominently in our transfer watches throughout the summer, but four days before Leicester's Premier League opener, he's still yet to secure a move away from the King Power Stadium.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for the 2016 PFA Players' Player of the Year, but it's AS Roma who continue to be the favourites for the Algeria international's signature.

According to Sky Sport Italia [via beIN Sports], the Foxes have rejected a €35 million bid for the North African - who could be an ideal replacement for Mohamed Salah - despite the player's desire to move on.

It remains to be seen whether Roma's sporting director Monchi will be willing to return to the East Midlands with an improved offer for the 26-year-old.

Serge Aurier: Perhaps Aurier's future will be clearer after his court appeal hearing on Monday as the Ivorian wideman looks to overturn a two-month prison sentence for assaulting a police officer in May 2016.

That incident cost him the chance to participate against Arsenal in the Champions League in November as his visa was withdraw, and it may again prevent him from moving to the Premier League.

If he's cleared, however, a move away from Paris Saint-Germain - where he's behind Dani Alves and Thomas Meunier in the pecking order - could advance quickly.

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are on alert.

Wilfried Bony: He may still be a Manchester City player as things stand, but we're still tipping Bony to move away from the Etihad Stadium before the window closes.

According to the Mirror, City have slapped a £13 million price tag on the forward, who's wanted by Swansea City, Fenerbahce and Besiktas.

As was the case last week, Swansea's decision to move for Bony may depend on whether Fernando Llorente leaves the club, but Everton's interest in Gylfi Sigurdsson could also influence proceedings.

The Toffees are closing in on a move for the Iceland international, and a £48 million windfall and some need for more firepower could prompt the Welsh side to move for Bony imminently.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah: Another deal that we're expecting to be completed imminently is Fosu-Mensah's switch to Crystal Palace from Manchester United.

The Guardian have reported that the Dutch-Ghanaian defender is due at Selhurst Park on Monday in order to complete a season-long move to London.

It's yet another clear indication that Jose Mourinho isn't set to place his faith in youth - as he stated when he arrived at Old Trafford - but Fosu-Mensah should at least benefit from the opportunity at Palace, and the chance to work under Frank de Boer.

The 19-year-old's progress has stalled at United after a fine start to his senior career under Louis van Gaal, and this could be the season where Fosu-Mensah gets back on track.
